Originating in South Asia, Kantha is one of the oldest styles of embroidery. Originally, the cloths were made by layering pieces of fabric used to make saris. Then, a simple running stitch is used to hold the layers together. Traditionally, Kanthas are handmade by women to give as gifts. You can use our unique Kantha fabric for a variety of projects: quilts, bags, table toppers, pillow covers, jackets and even upholstery! Save the scraps and use them as patches for jackets and jeans. The possibilities are endless!
