Winding Down the Holiday Sewing

Winding Down the Holiday Sewing

Are you winding down the Holiday season sewing?

I have a few personal projects planned / need.  Christmas outfits for my 3 Grands: Evelyn, Jackson and Emery.  For Evelyn I am working on the April from Children’s Corner.  Jackson gets to be my guinea pig for a pair of pants.  Emery my worst (or best) critic gets a pleated skirt.  All from the same material a Holiday plaid.  The Holiday Plaid is a recycle project.  This material was in an estate sale that Karen and I went to about 6 months ago.  I’m always planning for future needs, how about you?   As of right now, Emery's skirt is finished except hemming and her approval (fingers crossed); I started Jackson’s pants. Did I mention that this is my first attempt at boys pants with a zipper (Yikes).  It took me HOURS to get something I could live with (hope he can too).  Here is an excellent tutorial I found for a front fly zipper.

If you have been keeping up with me, you will remember my long time Luncheon group (circa 1990)  We are celebrating our Holiday party with each other next week; it's coming up fast!  I decided to be super eco-friendly and make each one a BUDDY BAG from Sallie Tomato.  These are super easy and If you leave the grommet off, you have a cute coin purse. I am using Stof Fabrics - Ekokuir Brillant - Perle.  Less likely to get dirty from use, and I love the way it looks.  Don’t you?  I need 12 of these.  Good thing they take only a little time.

My hubby, John, the top dog of this organization. (The Money Guy), belongs to an organization called the Sampson’s.  There are usually only 12 members.  The wives humorously call ourselves THE SAMSONITES.  Get it - we are their baggage.  I am giving each of them a very cute napkins and ties using the Free PDF Patterns we featured last month (Harvest Table Décor Napkins and Harvest Table Décor Ties) using Benartex Fabric Winter Elegance - Cardinal Elegance Natural and Riley Blake Fabrics - Snow Sweet - Text Red.  Do you think they will enjoy these.  Maybe I’ll keep one set for me!

As a new addition, I would like to start sharing recipes.  I will post one on each of my posts and if you have something yummy that I I can use to impress “Big John” with please send back to me chateausew@gmail.com. Today’s selection is one my family loves Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuits by the Cozy Cook. “Chicken Pot Pie with biscuits is the ultimate comfort food! It’s easy to make in a skillet, top with biscuits, and bake in the oven! It’s made from scratch and full of comforting flavor. Make it with homemade or refrigerated biscuits!”

Enough for now, LOVE and Happy Sewing.
