I’ve always loved fashion. I can’t resist reading about what inspires designers and looking at photos of current and past trends. It’s inspiring and thought provoking to watch how trends ebb and flow, and wait for what’s old to be new once again, in a fresh and interesting way. I would like to think we see the beginnings of these trends in the fabric industry. After all, that’s how every piece of clothing begins - as a piece of fabric.
Fabric, sewing, and fashion have always been inextricably linked in my life. It still amazes me that I can turn fabric into a beautiful piece of clothing I see in magazines. Whether I’m choosing what to wear, or new fabric for the store, I’ve always been able to spot trends, but I trust my instincts — I choose what I love, and what I think our customers will love.
If you happen to be familiar with the lifestyle brand, Rifle Paper Co., started by husband and wife team, Anna and Nathan Bond, you know they have lively floral and inspiring illustrations. So of course, we were thrilled when in 2016, they teamed up with Cotton + Steel to create a fabric line. Collection after collection, their fabric collection never disappoints. The newest collection, English Garden, was inspired by what else? An English garden. Its lush floral butterflies, rowboats, and other signature designs painted by Anna Bond feel dreamy and relaxed, and sophisticated at the same time. The fabric is perfect for a lovely dress or blouse for yourself, a fashionable bag, a darling dress for your daughter, or even your next home decor project… Enjoy!
