As the days grow longer and the flowers start to bloom, have you ever thought to yourself, “Hmm…there sure are a lot of pregnant women and babies being born this time of year?”
If so, you are not alone. As spring arrives, so too do the babies. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, there are about four million babies born in the US each year, a disproportionate number of which are born during warm weather — from May through September. Yes, folks, that’s right…it’s baby season.
Chances are good you’re pregnant or know someone who is pregnant, or you just had a baby, or know someone who just had a baby, so what better to sew this summer than something for the little ones who are on their way, or have just joined us?
No worries, we’re here to help you overcome the daunting task of getting just the perfect gift or coming home outfit or essential mommy/baby accessory. If you have basic sewing skills, or even if you don’t have any at all, you can create some amazing essentials and gifts that are sure to be a hit.
In the coming weeks, we will share some of our favorite tutorials and and even videos right from our shop on how to create some very special items for the baby in your life!
Also, beginning July 5th we will offer a two part class on creating some special items for baby and mom. Part 1, July 5th from 9am-1pm, will focus on creating a nursing cover for mom and a “Boppy”-style nursing pillow cover. Part #2 will be on July 19th from 9am-1pm and will focus on making a crib sheet for the baby bed and also a baby bib (because bibs are ridiculously expensive, which you’ll soon find out when shopping!).
